We have been SO busy weeding, mulching, pruning and clearing that it took a rainy Memorial Day weekend to get me to sit down at the computer finally and craft a blog! Basil, cilantro and parsley are a good start to our Herb Spiral Garden and two experimental beds have been seeded with corn, squash and melon seeds from 2019 that I found packed in Oakland!
Also in the works is a huge swath of our land that has been reclaimed from overgrown dogwoods, mulched, fenced, and prepped for raised beds to hold our future “salad bar.”
And oh so much more burning and brush removal…but there is always time to build a birdfeeder from felled trees!
We spend the hottest days moving rocks around in the river to divert the flow and clean out our future swimming hole!
Meanwhile, back at the Ranch…the sink and stove have been plumbed in, the drainage trench got a nice new rock retaining wall…and we celebrate with our first New Hampshire version of Skyline Chili, made with local ground lamb!
Lilacs give way to Rhododendrons along Trickle Creek as the summer lake crowds start rolling in and we prepare for another summer of building…
