While we spend most of our first week just staring at the forest in shock and wandering around dreaming, we do start in on a few essential tasks. Like getting our well water tested, mowing the lawn, and visiting our town clerk! We also begin to unpack and sort through the curiosities that former owners left behind…(the house was purchased AS IS, fully furnished, cobwebs, dead mice and all!)
Brandon emerges as the true Artist in this endeavor, painstakingly dredging antique glass, old leather shoe parts and metal scraps from the creek and surrounding areas to create the Little Baby Jessica Memorial Well Museum!! He also creates Father Time Tree and reinstalls the Shed License Plate Mural and the Fridge Magnet Mural:)
Still in the first couple weeks of May, the nights are cold. We chop wood from the stack and heat ourselves by the wood-burning stove while doing crossword puzzles and sudoku! (Internet won’t arrive until mid-week 2.) Ah, the calm:)
