To quote a recent meme I saw, “Mother Nature be throwing out temperatures like Powerball numbers!” When we last left off, it warmed up enough for Truck Tennis Snow Lady to be moved from the bed to just outside the driveway. I was busy perfecting my cross-country loop trails…when the temperatures plummeted and buried everything in snow again.
It’s SO frozen, we join over a hundred trucks (way bigger than ours!) out in the middle of a nearby lake to watch Ice Racing!
A good thing we got out there before the latest 60 degree thaw, as our own water-front transitions back from figure-eight to kayak season again!
While the Great Thaw is good for boating and outdoor fires, it also gives us driveway woes:( Our track pack method is no match for this constant flip-flop from melting to freezing and what once was a nice, packed snow tread is now a 4″ sheet of ice. Brandon tries to solve our driveway drainage problem with ice gullies and I give the treads a good layer of salted-sand, provided for free by the town of New Durham at our local dump!
