Tiny Crocus stretch towards the sun and new birds appear at our feeders as the winter snow piles wither away. The melt reveals hidden winter vole huts made of grasses and eager garden beds.
The first of our starts begin to sprout, taking advantage of southern light through downstairs windows. I’m trying out some new pallet garden bed designs as well as fixing up the log-cabin beds from last year.
Out on the pond the ice is rapidly thinning. You can still make out the trail treads worn by snowmobiles and I cut some trails of my own through soft slush!
It was a slow yet productive winter, as I finish the re-fab of an old wood panel collage and two new forest paintings and look forward to a spring of gardening…
