Change and Fences

Winter celebrated its last weeks with the annual Pond Skim at Gunstock. The river thawed and Socket enjoyed the Daffodils. The biggest change this spring though, was the decision to finally unpack and get ready to say goodbye to Fishcamp. The somber mood is lightened by the arrival of Snowflaque McKnobs!

I took a quick tour of the Powder Mill Fish Hatchery and its nature trails. Downing Pond, our pond, is seeded annually with Rainbow Trout. As the fish swam frantically upstream under the eager eye of the Bald Eagle and the Heron, Lupins and Irises began to paint our yard with color.

Due to early spring damage by deer and racoons, we decide to fence in the lower gardens. After a couple days of pulling rocks out of postholes, we are happy with the final product and Socket and I celebrate down by the river:)
