Fall is in full swing. Plants and animals alike begin to store up food for the winter. I had my first Black Bear sighting up at Bald Peak! Mama and cub just hanging out, digesting and enjoying the view:)
Three blueberry bushes are now planted on Blueberry Hill and garden beds continue to morph. The bed in front of the porch was removed to provide more room for turning cars around. It took truck strapping and 4-wheel drive reversing to yank out and transplant this old Hydrangea!
Socket chases chipmunks rummaging beneath the bird feeders, where later a parade of turkeys passes by. A Marbled Orb Weaver clings to our front door frame. New mud tracks and freshly felled Hemlock branches are definitive signs that the 2 beaver dams on Downing Pond are inhabited!
While I hustle to winterize lakeside gardens at work, Brandon is left unsupervised to finish the downstairs bathroom….Oh Dear!
